OPEN FACE BOOTH FEATURES

The following features are standard on GFS Open Face Paint Booths:

Heavy-Duty Panels

GFS Open Face Booths are constructed with single-skin, 18-gauge, G-90 galvanized steel.

Solid Construction

Pre-punched booth panels and nut-and-bolt assembly takes the guesswork out of installing a paint booth, and provides more structural integrity.

Exhaust Chamber

Air is filtered through an exhaust chamber, as it exists the booth. Exhaust stacks are required to ventilate the booth to the outside.

Superior Lighting

The majority of GFS’ open face booths feature integrated 4-tube, inside-access fluorescent light fixtures. GFS light fixtures are ETL listed (Class 1 Division 2) and come complete with T-8 color-corrected tubes.

Easy Filter Replacement
  • Installing and replacing filters is easy with the grid system.
  • Avoid wasting filters by replacing only the filter squares that need to be changed.
  • Each booth comes complete with a full set of GFS Wave 20” x 20” exhaust filters.
  • An included manometer indicates when filters need to be replaced.

Fans & Motors

High-powered fans and motors are required to create adequate airflow within a paint booth. Each GFS open face booth includes a non-sparking, tube axial exhaust fan(s) with belt guards and duct connector ring, and a 3-phase, TEFC, tri-voltage motor(s) with variable pitch pulley.

Selecting a Booth Size

Deciding on the right size paint booth isn’t always an easy task. Use the following guidelines to help you determine the appropriate size booth for your needs.

Width: Width of the largest item (including fixture or pallet) plus 5 feet

Height: Height of the largest item (including fixture or pallet) plus 2 feet

Depth: Depth of the largest item plus 3 feet (clearance at the rear)

Additional Sizing Considerations

Conveyorized Booths: Width must be sufficient to allow finishers to complete the finishing operation within the allotted time. Spraying should not be closer than 2 feet from the conveyor opening.

Bridge intake Chambers w/ Solid Doors: Decrease booth opening by 2 feet high and 4 feet wide on a booth with a bridge intake chamber.

Filtered Doors: Decrease booth opening by 4 feet wide when using filtered doors on large booths(12 Ft. Wide or Larger).

LARGE EQUIPMENT AIRFLOW

Downdraft Design

Generally accepted as the best airflow style, downdraft booths do an excellent job at controlling overspray and contamination. Air enters the booth through a full length, filtered ceiling plenum. From there, air flows vertically over the product and into the filtered exhaust pit in the floor.

Side Downdraft Design

Side downdraft booths are an economical solution for shops that can’t afford or aren’t able to install a pit. Air comes into the booth through a full-length, filtered ceiling plenum, and flows downward over the product. When air reaches the floor, it is pulled into floor level filtered exhaust plenums on either side of the booth.

Crossdraft Design

The simplest configuration, crossdraft booths use an exhaust fan to pull air in at one end of the booth. Air may pass through a filtered door, enter the working chamber unfiltered or be pushed through a pressurized intake plenum. Air flows parallel to the floor, across the vehicle and into a filter bank at the booth rear.

Personnel Doors

Each booth includes at least on personnel door, depending on the size of the booth.

Product Entry Doors

Booth product doors can be filtered or solid.

  • Used only with non-pressurized booths, filtered entry doors allow product entry and exit while filtering the input air. These doors attach to the front of the booth and do not add depth.
  • Solid entry doors are used in pressurized applications to enclose the booth.
  • Product doors can be either 2-panel swing or 4-panel bi-fold.

LARGE EQUIPMENT CONTROLS

Deluxe Control Panel

Included on all booths with air makeup units The UL-listed Deluxe control panel is designed for a single-point wiring connection. All control wires are numbered for easy wire identification and all components are labeled to match electrical schematic. A terminal strip is included for field wiring.

  • NEMA type 12 industrial panel with door-mounted disconnect switch
  • Magnetic motor starter with overhead heater & 120V control coil

Insight Control Panel

Included on all booths with cure cycle A PLC-based, UL-listed control system with an intuitive, simplistic touch screen, the INSIGHT control panel allows you to continually monitor all systems for safety and function. Pop-up displays indicate running information and faults, while the Professor help function guides the operator through fixing faults.

GFS recirculating paint booths provide accurate control of climate and airflow, while providing the most efficient operating system possible. This type of booth is often used in conjunction with temperature and humidity controls, regenerative thermal oxidizers and other VOC abatement equipment.

Not to overlook safety, all GFS recirculating booths include all of the required airflow monitoring systems and controls to ensure a completely safe operating environment during all modes of operation.

Constant Airflow

A key feature of GFS’ recirculating booths is the Consta-Flow system. This system maintains constant airflow in the booth, by automatically adjusting the recirculation fan to the changing conditions of the exhaust filters. Consta-Flow consists of a VFD, differential pressure gauge and sensing probes.

Fans & Motors

GFS recirculating booths include a recirculating fan and 3-phase, TEFC 3 tri-voltage motor(s) with variable pitch pulley, as well as a tube axial exhaust fan(s) and a 3-phase, TEFC, tri-voltage motor(s) with variable pitch pulley.

4-Stage Exhaust Filtration

GFS’ recirculating booths feature a 4-stage exhaust filtration system. The first two stages, roll media and fiberglass filter pads, are in the exhaust plenum. The third and fourth stages, final filters, are in the recirculating plenum. This filtration system effectively removes 99.9% of particulate down to 0.5 microns.

Superior Lighting

GFS recirculating paint booths feature integrated 4-tube, inside-access fluorescent light fixtures. GFS light fixtures are ETL listed (Class 1 Division 2) and come complete with T-8 color-corrected tubes.

Personnel Door

Each recirculating booth includes a personnel door with panic latch and clear tempered glass observation window, as well as a personnel door in the exhaust chamber (less window).

RECIRCULATING PAINT BOOTH COST SAVINGS

Recirculation is an effective method of reducing operating costs of the paint booth. GFS recirculating booths reduce operating cost by using less energy and exhausting less air. At a recirculation rate of 80:20, energy use is reduced by a factor of five.

In addition to energy savings, a recirculation booth can also provide capital expense savings, since air handling and abatement equipment in reduced in size when using a recirculation booth.

WHY
WATER WASH?

GFS’ water wash spray booths provide an extremely efficient means for removing paint particles from the exhausted air, and are the most acceptable type of spray booth for all health, fire and building codes. Water wash spray booths are ideal when using large quantities of coatings, usually more than 5 gallons per day per square foot of face area.

GFS’ Galvanized Paint Mix Rooms provide a controlled area for safely mixing paint. Wall panels are fabricated from 18-gauge unpainted galvanized sheet steel, and are pre-punched and companion flanged for easy nut-and-bolt, on-site assembly. Complete Package
