DJ POWDER COATING

DJ Powder coating started years ago when Denny and his father, Joe were into competitively racing ATVs. Denny wanted his to stand out and decided to powder coat his ATV with a small set up on his property. Denny quickly realized he had a gift in powder coating, and it didn’t take long for word to get around that Denny did high-quality work. From then on, he started getting inquiries from other people who needed items powder-coated and Denny and Joe quickly had to expand.

10 years later and DJ Powder Coating not only does local jobs, but they also do contract work for large corporations and have even shipped items internationally. They hang their hats on high quality and communication, and that has served them well. The time came for them to upgrade from a booth they bought secondhand years ago and they turned to their trusted partner Air Power, Inc.

Over the years, DJ Powder Coating has turned to Air Power for everything from their powder guns, cleaning equipment, spare parts to filters. It was through this partnership with Air Power that they purchased their new Global Finishing Cartridge Booth. Starting with the initial conversation regarding their needs to support after the sale, Air Power helped DJ Powder Coating make this big decision more comfortable. Thanks to the information gathered, Denny and Joe were confident in their GFS purchase and couldn’t be happier with the quality, engineering, and functionality of their new booth.

CHALLENGE

They had an old booth and weren’t satisfied with the capacity or the airflow. It was old and dark, and they were ready for an upgrade. With their old spray booth, they had noticed a lot of overspray which led to difficult painting conditions in the booth. Overspray in the booth led to poor spray conditions inside the booth.

AIR POWER SOLUTION

Air Power proposed a Global Finishing Cartridge Booth. These booths feature high-efficiency cartridge filters for capturing powder overspray, and a load-triggered filter pulsing system, which cleans filters for a longer life span. We upgraded the booth with a few extra lights, and because of the nature of their business, they were able to powder coat the booth white themselves before assembly.

RESULTS

They are extremely happy with the results. They are very impressed with everything from the quality of sheet metal to the ease of work instruction in putting the booth together to the improved air flow. They really like having cartridge filters vs roll media and are finding that they are using less powder than before for the same applications. They are very happy with the LED lighting and have found that it’s much easier to see the quality of the powder they are spraying in their new booth. There is no question they made the right decision in partnering with Air Power and Global Finishing.
