How To Set And Verify The Torque Output of a Panasonic Mechanical Pulse Tool

In this video, Air Power Technical Specialist, James Stanley walks through steps to set and verify the torque output of a panasonic mechanical pulse tool.

Equipment utilized- Panasonic Mechanical Pulse Tool with Sturtevant Richmont Beam Wrench

  1. Determine target torque for application.  Utilize beam wrench to tighten test joing to desired torque.  Once desired torque is reached, “breakaway” the joint in order to properly determine breakaway torque.
  2. Complete until breakaway torque is consistent with joint.
  3. Run tool on joint
  4. Determine breakaway torque following tightening.  Compare this observed breakaway torque with the breakaway torque determined in step #1 following a successful tightening on the application joining.
  5. Utilizing the Panasonic remote controller, adjust your Mechanical Pulse tool torque output up or down.
  6. Complete steps 3-5 until consistent tool torque tightening results are achieved.

How to Properly Flush a Pressure Pot

How To Properly Flush a Pressure Pot

In this video, we walk through the steps it takes to properly flush a pressure pot with Air Power Account manager Jeff Tussey.

How To:

  1.  Cut of air supply to the pot, this is critical!  Once air has been cut off to the pot, bleed pressure pot utilizing pressure relief valve.
  2. Remove lid from pressure pot
  3. Remove liner (Air Power recommends all Pressure Pots to be utilized with pot liners – for ease of use, cleaning, and color change applications).
  4. Add your solvent (or preferred chemical cutting agent) liner.
  5. Re-install pressure pot lid, reconnect air supply, and slowly increase fluid pressure (Note – no atomizing air is necessary while flushing a unit).
  6. Trigger gun and spray waste into solvent/waste containment – Note – make sure waste can is properly grounded.

How To Effectively Adjust Your Spray Gun Pattern

How To Effectively Adjust Your Spray Gun Pattern

This video is a step by step guide to show you how to effectively adjust your spray gun pattern. The equipment utilized for this video is the Devilbiss Spray Gun with 1.4MM Needle (standard).

The Fan adjustment (top knob) – clockwise adjustments to narrow pattern, counterclockwise adjustments for wider pattern.

The Needle adjustment (bottom knob) – for fine tuning of fluid flow rate

Air Power recommends that all fluid flow rate adjustments take place on your outbound fluid pressure regulator. By regulating fluid utilizing the fluid needle it will increase needle wear and result in decreased life expectancy. Properly setting your outbound fluid at your fluid source (pressure pot, pump, etc.) utilizing a properly set outbound fluid regulator is the preferred and most effective fluid setting measurement.

How To Properly Set Up A Binks Pressure Pot and Spray Gun Fluid Flow Rate

How To Properly Set Up A Binks Pressure Pot and Spray Gun Fluid Flow Rate

Equipment Utilized – Binks Dual Regulated Pressure Pot + Devilbiss Compact Trans Tech Spray Gun with 1.4mm Fluid Needle

Ist Regulator is for Pot Fluid – ie. Outbound fluid pressure. A good starting point for outbound fluid pressure is 10 lbs.
2nd Regulator is for spray gun atomization air. A good starting point for spray gun atomization air is “double” that of starting fluid pressure.

In order to set your outbound spray gun atomization air, you MUST set using dynamic air pressure (ie. With the gun trigger depressed). When setting fluid flow rate – ultimately this is determined by production demands, but in most cases your fluid stream should be between 6-12 inches from the end of a gun.

Tech Tip: Dedicating Your Manual Powder Hose

Dedicating Your Powder Hose

Dedicating your powder hose specific to your color and special type of powder can save you time in color changes and prevent costly rejects. It can speed up your paint process, eliminate powder contamination and reduce clean up time. If you are frequently changing your powder color throughout the day, this is a great way to quickly and easily eliminate pain points and improve your application process.

Programming your Ingersoll Rand QX Tool – It’s that Easy

Taking total control of your fastening process doesn’t have to be complicated. Ingersoll Rand’s comprehensive QX Series family of fastening systems deliver simple, flexible and capable solutions for all of your assembly requirements. No matter the industry or application, you can count on Ingersoll Rand as a trusted partner to help you get the job done right!

The innovative QX Series of cordless precision fasteners is a revolutionary step for your entire facility – one that shows how a smarter tool can improve process control, operator comfort and data communication. In a single, affordable package, this tool puts you in control by helping to increase productivity, lower costs and ensuring a high-quality product at the end of your production line.

The QX Series family of tools consists of:

  • QXN
  • QXC
  • QXX
  • QXM
  • QX ETS

Currently, there are three (3) quick, easy, and effective methods in which to program a QX tool for deployment within your manufacturing process.

1.Programming with the Insight Connect App:

    1. The INSIGHT™ Connect app will help you stay productive, mobile and in control of your fastening process. It programs any Ingersoll Rand® QX Series™ tool without the need for additional technical training, special software, plant network permissions or a laptop computer. Working from a smartphone or tablet, operators can use the app to quickly program the torque and angle control configurations on these closed-loop, transducerized tools.
    2. Once installed, the INSIGHT™ Connect app can operate offline, so it functions in large facilities or other locations where Internet signal loss may be a problem, reducing downtime and maximizing ease of use. You can quickly perform key tasks with your mobile device, including:
      •  Strategy
        • Torque
        • Angle
        • Torque + angle
      • Back-up and restore tool settings
      • Retrieval of tool logs and the ability to send via email for post-processing
      • Review audit logs

2. Programming from the back of the tool

Or reference the below video (some of the menu options have changed since this video was posted by Ingersoll Rand in 2017 – but the overall flow and understanding remain unchanged)

3. Programming utilizing the Ingersoll Rand ICS Software
